Drug Addiction Hit Records in America

According to BBC News, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, American hit the highest record of drug overdose deaths in America history, rising nearly 30%. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that in September 2021, there were 63175 drug overdose deaths in New York. Another news by Will Feuer, journalist of The Wall Street Journal, reported that positive drug tests among U.S. workers hit two-decade high. Companies tend to hire employees without drug overdose history. However, they have to change their policy and consider those who test positive as a contemporary solution because of labor shortage.

Among the drug addicts, numbers of teenagers are rising. Drug addiction is more prevalent in Z generation while alcohol addiction is more popular among people aged 40+.

The government should take corresponding measures to intervene drug addiction issues.
